To preserve for posterity the recollections of persons who have figured prominently in the work of The American Law Institute, the Institute has undertaken an ongoing oral history of the organization and its various projects.
ALI Audiovisual History No. 1 Herbert Wechsler
The first installment of the ALI Audiovisual History is an edited transcript of an interview with Director Emeritus Herbert Wechsler. The interview, which was videotaped at Professor Wechslers residence in New York City on April 23, 1989, was conducted by Paul A. Wolkin. It includes Professor Wechslers candid reflections on both his years as Chief Reporter for the Institutes Model Penal Code and his tenure from 1963 to 1984 as the Institutes third Director. A pamphlet containing the edited transcript and a videotape of the interview are available.

ALI Audiovisual History No. 2 Homer Kripke
An interview with the late Homer Kripke, former emeritus member of the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform Commercial Code and a participant in the drafting of the Code almost from its inception, constitutes the second installment in The American Law Institutes ongoing Audiovisual History Series. In this September 1989 interview conducted by Paul A. Wolkin, Professor Kripke reflects candidly upon the personalities and events surrounding the development of both the UCC and the Institutes Federal Securities Code, for which he served as an Adviser. ALI Audiovisual History No. 3 A. James Casner
An interview with the late A. James Casner, the legendary law teacher, continuing legal educator, and estate law practitioner who devoted a significant portion of his professional career to serving as Reporter or Adviser to various American Law Institute projects, constitutes the third installment in ALIs ongoing Audiovisual History Series. In this May 1990 interview conducted by Paul A. Wolkin, Professor Casner recalls his work for the Institute, as intertwined with his professional life, with particular emphasis on his service as Reporter for the Restatement of Property and for several of the Institutes projects on federal income taxation.
