Principles of the Law of Software Contracts

Purpose:
This project presents legal principles to guide courts in deciding disputes involving transactions in software and to guide those drafting software contracts.
Status:
The Council approved the start of the project in 2004. A Tentative Draft of material on standard-form agreements, warranties, and remedies, as well as definitions, scope, and general terms, was approved at the 2008 Annual Meeting.
The Proposed Final Draft was approved at the 2009 Annual Meeting, subject to the discussion at the meeting and to editorial prerogative. The official text of this project will be published in 2010.
