October Council Meeting Updates

At its October 2016 meeting, the Council took the following actions concerning project drafts:

The Law of American Indians
There was discussion of portions of Council Draft No. 3, but, due to insufficient time, no approval was sought. The Council will continue its consideration of the draft at a future meeting.

Children and the Law
The Council approved Council Draft No. 1, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative.

Consumer Contracts
The Council discussed all nine sections of the draft Restatement. The Reporters will revise Council Draft No. 2 in accordance with the discussion and will submit a revised draft at the January 2017 Council meeting. The Reporters also will continue to work on structural and presentation matters.

Data Privacy
The Council approved Sections 1 - 3 of Council Draft No. 1, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative. There was insufficient time to consider Section 4.

Policing
The Council approved Council Draft No. 1, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative.

Sentencing
The Council approved Council Draft No. 6, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative. The Reporters will submit a provision on restorative justice for consideration at the January 2017 Council meeting.

Sexual Assault and Related Offenses
At the October 2016 meeting, the Council approved Section 213.0(3) of Council Draft No. 4, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative. In January 2017, the Council will consider Sections 213.0(7) and 213.1-213.4.

Torts: Intentional Torts to Persons
Subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative, the Council approved Council Draft No. 3, except Sections 109A and 109B, which will be considered at a future meeting. The second of the two possible versions of Section 109 included in the draft was approved.

Torts: Liability for Economic Harm
The Council approved Council Draft No. 4, subject to the discussion at the meeting and the usual editorial prerogative.
