Pedro Martinez-Fraga Selected to ICSID Panel of Conciliators

ALI member Pedro Julio Martinez-Fraga of Bryan Cave LLP, was appointed by President Barack Obama as one of four U.S. delegate members to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He is the first Hispanic to have been appointed in the history of the Washington Convention of 1965.

Mr. Martinez-Fraga will serve for a renewable term of six years. As a conciliator listed on the panel, he is available for selection to ICSID tribunals, conciliation commissions and ad hoc committees. The panel list is used most often to appoint where the parties are unable to agree on a nominee.

Mr. Martinez-Fraga currently serves as an Adviser for the Restatement of the Law, U.S. Law of International Commercial Arbitration. He also served on the Members Consultative Group for the Legal and Economic Principles of World Trade Law, published in 2012, and the Restatement of the Law Third, Torts: Liability for Physical and Emotional Harm.
