Dean Betsy Levin

Betsy Levin was elected to Council in 1983. Betsy Levin taught law at Yale and Georgetown before joining the Duke Law School faculty and becoming its first tenured woman law professor. She was the first General Counsel of the Department of Education during the Carter Administration, then served as dean of the University of Colorado Law School. After six years in Boulder, CO, she returned to Washington, DC, to head the Association of American Law Schools. She has lectured at universities in Australia, China, Taiwan, Mexico, and Germany, and led legal groups to Russia and China. She clerked for Judge Simon E. Sobeloff of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
