M.C. Sungaila Selected To Top Women Lawyers List

For the seventh consecutive year, ALI member Mary-Christine Sungaila of Haynes and Boone LLP has been named to the Daily Journal’s list of Top Women Lawyers. In all, she has been selected for the honor eight times in her career.

A special edition of the legal newspaper included Ms. Sungaila's profile as one of 75 litigators and 25 corporate transactions and regulatory specialists who exemplify excellent lawyering and leadership skills in California, and whose work is having a broad impact on the legal community, the nation and society. To make the selection, editors reviewed hundreds of nominations from law firms, public agencies, nonprofits and universities.

This latest honor comes on the heels of Ms. Sungaila's second straight California Lawyer of the Year Award for her work on a Ninth Circuit asylum appeal for a transgender woman. The awards, previously awarded by California Lawyer magazine, this year were given by the Los Angeles and San FranciscoDaily Journal newspapers.

Ms. Sungaila currently serves on the Members Consultative Group for several projects, including Restatement of the Law Third, Torts: Intentional Torts to Persons, Restatement of the Law, Charitable Nonprofit Organizations, Restatement of the Law Third, Torts: Liability for Economic Harm, Model Penal Code: Sexual Assault and Related Offenses, and Principles of the Law, Data Privacy.
