‘A Plaintiffs’ Lawyer With Eye for Big Settlements’

ALI Council member Elizabeth J. Cabraser of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP is featured in The Wall Street Journal.

In the article, she is credited as having an "encyclopedic knowledge of class action law." Ms. Cabraser currently serves as plaintiffs’ liaison lead counsel in the Volkswagen class action lawsuit before the Northern District of California. At the time of consolidation, there were over 500 lawsuits filed. Other litigations currently on Ms. Cabraser’s docket include the GM ignition-switch cases, Takata defective airbag litigation, and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill litigation.

The Wall Street Journal article, which discusses Ms. Cabraser’s track record as a plaintiffs’ class action attorney, also features ALI member Elizabeth Chamblee Burch of the University of Georgia School of Law. Ms. Burch was awarded ALI’s Young Scholars Medal at the 2015 Annual Meeting, for her work in research on class actions and large-scale, non-class aggregation.
