Stuart Raphael was elected by the Virginia General Assembly on August 10, 2021 to serve as a judge on the Court of Appeals of Virginia. He previously served as co-chair of the Issues and Appeals Group at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, where he focused on appellate litigation, constitutional issues, complex litigation and strategic counseling. From 2014 to 2017, Mr. Raphael served as the Solicitor General of Virginia.
