Judge Sidney H. Stein is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and a United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York since 1995.

Following law school, he clerked for Judge Stanley H. Fuld, Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals from 1972 to 1973. From 1974 to 1981, he was an attorney with the firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and from 1981 through 1995, he was a founding partner in Stein, Zauderer, Ellenhorn, Frischer & Sharp.

On January 11, 1995, Judge Stein was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York vacated by Pierre N. Leval. he was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 17, 1995, and received his commission the same day.
