Matt Sawchak is a shareholder at Robinson Bradshaw in Raleigh, North Carolina. He focuses his practice on complex litigation, antitrust, and appeals.

Before joining Robinson Bradshaw, Matt served as solicitor general of North Carolina. He has argued at all levels of the federal and North Carolina court systems, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Matt is a state-bar-certified specialist in appellate practice. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He serves on the governing council of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Law Section. He recently chaired the editorial board of the Antitrust Law Journal.

He serves as the practitioner in residence at Campbell Law School, where he teaches civil procedure and antitrust. His scholarly interests include antitrust exemptions and immunities, as well as the law on unfair and deceptive acts and practices.

Matt graduated with honors from Harvard College and Duke Law School. He was the editor-in-chief of the Duke Law Journal. After law school, Matt clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas during Justice Thomas’s tenure on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Matt also clerked in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States.

Matt sings with the North Carolina Master Chorale and the North Carolina Opera.
