Davina T. Chen is a sole practitioner in Los Angeles. Since 1999, she has practiced exclusively in criminal defense and related areas. She was a trial and then an appeals attorney at the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Los Angeles for fourteen years before founding the Law Office of Davina T. Chen in 2013.

In 2020, she took a leave from representing individual clients to lead litigation for the National Sentencing Resource Counsel Project of the Federal Public & Community Defenders. In that capacity, she developed constitutional, statutory, and guideline litigation strategies for federal sentencing and provided litigation support from district court to United States Supreme Court. She also worked with the Federal Defender Sentencing Guidelines Committee and represented Defender interests before the U.S. Sentencing Commission.

Ms. Chen returned to her solo practice in 2024, where she continues to represent individuals on appeal and in post-conviction matters as well as to consult with trial counsel in complex law and motions and as a federal sentencing law expert.

A graduate of U.C. Berkeley and New York University School of Law, Ms. Chen clerked for the Honorable Harry Pregerson, U.S.Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
