Charlotte K. Perrell is the Managing Partner at Dudley Newman Feuerzeig LLP, and a member of the Firm’s litigation department. Ms. Perrell returned to the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2013 after practicing in Atlanta, Georgia for 20 years. Ms. Perrell previously lived in the Virgin Islands, growing up on Water Island and attending Antilles School. Ms. Perrell focuses her practice on business litigation.

As founding partner of Perrell Law, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Perrell has litigated claims against banks, state universities, large publicly traded companies, small businesses, and individuals. Representative cases include:

  • Representing publicly traded companies with claims against their patent counsel for errors that cost the companies eight figure losses and negotiating those claims to successful resolutions.
  • Recently winning a $1.9 million breach of contract award against a publicly traded company involving unique manufacturing processes in the carpet industry.
  • Representing an individual who survived electrocution in claims against his counsel for failure to timely file a products liability suit against the manufacturer of porcelain electrical insulators that ruptured and negotiating the suit to a successful resolution.

As a result of her experience, Ms. Perrell is regularly asked to speak at seminars on legal ethics and preventing legal malpractice by malpractice insurance companies. Ms. Perrell has served as an expert witness in matters relating to lawyer fiduciary duties.

Ms. Perrell was instrumental in instituting Georgia’s first Professional Liability Section of the State Bar of Georgia in which has served as the Chair of the Section and Co-Chaired its Annual Seminar. In addition, Ms. Perrell has Co-Chaired the long standing (10+ year) annual seminar on Abusive Litigation.

Ms. Perrell has been Board Certified in Legal Malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys, the only American Bar Association-accredited organization that certifies attorneys in legal and medical malpractice with only 31 members in 14 states.

Ms. Perrell is admitted to the District Court of the Virgin Islands (2013), the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands (2014), the Superior and State Courts of Georgia as well as the Appellate and Supreme Court of Georgia (1994), the U.S. District Court of Georgia, Northern District (1995) and U.S. District Court of Florida (2012). She is a member of the Virgin Islands Bar Association, (2014), the State Bar of Georgia (1994), the Atlanta Bar Association (1994), the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (1995), where she was a founding member of the New Lawyers Section, (1996), and the Atlanta Trial Lawyers Society (2004), an invitation-only organization of women attorneys with seven figure verdicts or settlements.

While in Georgia, Ms. Perrell was also the host of the Sunday morning talk show, Leyes Cotidianas – Everyday Law, which aired throughout Georgia and South America as part of a public broadcasting program designed to provide a greater understanding of the legal process to layman. Ms. Perrell has been selected as a “SuperLawyer” multiple times by “SuperLawyer” Magazine and Atlanta Magazine and was recently selected in 2013 as one of the “Top 50 Women Lawyers in Georgia.” Ms. Perrell was also selected to the Best Lawyers in America list in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Ms. Perrell received the “Lawyer of the Year” award by Best Lawyers in America.

Ms. Perrell is a graduate of Boston College (cum laude) and St. Louis University Law School with a certificate in International Law. She served as a member of the Board of Governors for the Virgin Islands Bar Association in 2017 and has served as Moot Court Coach for the Virgin Islands Bar Association Moot Court Competition since 2016. Ms. Perrell was elected the President of the Virgin Islands Bar Association for 2021.
