ALI President Wallace B. Jefferson Featured in Bloomberg Law Q&A

President Wallace B. Jefferson was recently featured in a Q&A with Bloomberg Law, discussing his transition into ALI leadership, emerging issues affecting the legal system, and the role of institutions in supporting thoughtful legal development.

June 01, 2026

Jefferson, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas and longtime ALI Council member, reflected on how his experience both on the bench and in private practice informs his approach to leading the Institute. He noted that state courts often confront many of the legal questions that ultimately shape broader conversations about the law.

Among the topics discussed were the challenges facing courts today, including the increasing use of artificial intelligence by self-represented litigants and questions surrounding access to justice in high-volume civil disputes. Jefferson also highlighted ALI’s work in areas where courts and legal systems continue to evolve to meet changing public needs.

Looking ahead, Jefferson spoke about the value of institutions that bring together diverse perspectives to improve and modernize the law through careful study and discussion.
