Herma Hill Kay of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law has been awarded the 2015 Triennial Award for Lifetime Service to Legal Education and the Law. Recognizing individuals who have devoted their careers to legal education and the law, The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) created the award in 2006. The Triennial Award will be presented on January 7, 2016, during the 2016 AALS Annual Meeting held in New York.
Professor Kay has played an active role in the women’s rights movement, and has made substantial contributions to her scholarship on family law and conflict of laws. At the 2015 AALS Annual Meeting, she was presented the Section on Women in Legal Education Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lifetime Achievement. The countless contributions Professor Kay has made to the legal community include her active participation at ALI. She has been an ALI Council Member since 1985, and is currently an Adviser for the Restatement of the Law Third, Conflict of Laws project.
