ALI member Mary Sarah Bilder of Boston College Law School will be awarded the 2016 Bancroft Prize, a prize awarded annually by the trustees of Columbia University. The winning works are selected based on the scope, significance, depth of research, and richness of interpretation they present in the areas of American history and/or diplomacy. Professor Bilder is being honored for her book, Madison’s Hand: Revising the Constitutional Convention (Harvard University Press 2015).
On March 16, Professor Bilder also participated in a panel discussion concerning James Madison’s early life, political and personal partnerships and his pre-eminent role at the 1787 Constitutional Convention. The discussion took place at the Library of Congress.
