George A. Whittenburg passed away on August 7. He was 73 years old.
Mr. Whittenburg co-founded Whittenburg Law Firm with his brother, Louis Palma McKee "Mack" Whittenburg, and practiced law for nearly 49 years. He gained widespread recognition in the legal community for several high-profile cases and for his ability to solve novel problems using his extensive legal experience. Texas Monthly described him in a 1996 cover story: "In person, George has a congenial personality, but during a lawsuit, he is a pit bull."
Mr. Whittenburg served on ALI’s Council and was an Adviser on several projects, including the Restatement Third of both Property and The Law Governing Lawyers.
