In Memoriam: John Bouma

John Bouma, a prominent Arizona legal figure and former chairman of Snell & Wilmer, died in an accident on the evening of Jan. 23. He was 82.

An ALI member for 25 years, Mr. Bouma was former president of the State Bar of Arizona and co-founder of the Equal Justice Foundation, which provides legal services for the poor. He served on the board of several philanthropic and community groups, and was known for his dedication to serving those most in need of legal representation.

Jeffrey Willis, president of the State Bar of Arizona and partner at Snell & Wilmer, said of his passing: 

“John is recognized nationally as one of the finest lawyers in America. More importantly, his service to our shared community has made Arizona better in countless ways. We are truly saddened to lose such an important friend and leader. John will be sorely missed by all those who knew and respected him."
