‘Toward Fairer, Quicker, Cheaper Litigation’

July 27, 2023

Carolyn B. Kuhl and William F. Highberger, both of the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, have coauthored “Toward Fairer, Quicker, Cheaper Litigation: A Unified Theory of Civil Case Management,” the feature article in Volume 107, Number 1 of Judicature.

The article discusses the history of case management in the California court system, principles for case management, and provides a toolkit for cases with differing levels of complexity.

Robert M. Dow Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and Counselor to Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. has authored “Managerial Judges: The Long View,” an accompanying piece to Kuhl and Highberger’s article.
