The Yale Law School Association recognized Heather K. Gerken of Yale Law School and Pamela S. Karlan of Stanford Law School as its 2025 Award of Merit honorees, the highest honor bestowed by the association.
“Over the years, this award has been presented to some of the most accomplished and inspiring figures in law and public life, whose achievements have advanced justice, strengthened institutions, and inspired generations,” said Frank R. Jimenez, president of the Yale Law School Association’s Executive Committee, during his introductory remarks at a ceremony held during this month’s Alumni Weekend celebration. “This year, we are especially proud to recognize two distinguished individuals whose leadership, scholarship, and service have shaped not only Yale Law School but also the broader legal landscape.”
Harold Hongju Koh of Yale Law School introduced Gerken and Karlan, highlighting their contributions to higher education, public service, and the legal profession.
