ALI looked to the Carnegie Corporation when it set out to develop a nationwide program of continuing legal education in response to the needs of veterans returning to law practice after wartime military service. Recognizing the importance of establishing a national program to educate lawyers, the Carnegie Corporation provided $250,000 to support the initiative.
