Gerard E. Lynch
Gerard E. Lynch is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit where he has served since 2009. He previously served on the Southern District of New York bench from 2000 to 2009. He is also the Paul J. Kellner Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, where he teaches courses in criminal law and procedure, sentencing, and professional responsibility.
He received his B.A. from Columbia College and his J.D. from Columbia Law School. Lynch was elected to ALI in December 1998 and was elected to the Council in 2009. He currently serves as an Adviser on the Model Penal Code: Sexual Assault and Related Offenses project. He served as an Adviser on the recently completed works, Model Penal Code: Sentencing and Restatement of the Law, The U.S. Law of International Commercial and Investor-State Arbitration.
