Dellapenna
Joseph W. Dellapenna has taught at law schools in the United States and abroad for 58 years. In addition to the United States, he has taught in Australia, Belgium, China, and Italy as well as served as a legal advisor to the Direção Geral dos Recursos Naturais in Portugal. He most recently was a visiting professor at the Peking University School of Transnational Law in Shenzhen, China. He has practiced, taught, and written about water law, both in the United States and internationally, for his entire career. He directs the Model Water Code Project of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and served as rapporteur of the Water Resources Committee of the International Law Association, he led the drafting of the International Law Association’s Berlin Rules on Water Resources (2004).He is the author of Dispelling the Myths of Abortion History (Carolina Academic Press 2d. ed. 2022), which was relied on by the majority in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (2022).He is the author of Suing Foreign Governments and Their Corporations (2nd ed., Transnational Publishers 2003), which has been cited by the Supreme Court and many other courts. He has written or contributed to numerous other books and articles on a wide variety of topics.
