Mike’s principal focus is on advising business clients and negotiating and documenting business and real estate transactions. Before joining Elevation Law, Mike spent the last 15 years as senior partner of Brown Gee & Wenger LLP which he co-founded in 2011.   Mike earned his Juris Doctor law degree at Berkeley Law at the University of California, his Bachelor’s degree at UC San Diego, and is admitted to practice in the State of California as a member of the State Bar of California.  Mike has practiced law in Washington D.C., San Francisco and Walnut Creek before opening the Bay Area office of Elevation Law P.C. in Danville in 2026.

 

Mike works with clients in diverse industries with regard to business transactions and corporate law, including negotiating and documenting the purchase and sale, development and leasing of property, construction agreements, insurance and indemnity requirements, financing including guaranty agreements, joint ventures, and the formation, governance and dissolution of legal entities, including corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.   Mike has extensive experience in the commercial real estate, land development, homebuilding, hospitality, retail and construction industries.

 

Mike has dedicated part of his practice to the representation of a variety of nonprofit and charitable organizations, including corporate, transactional and advisory work.

 

Mike is an elected Member in the American Law Institute and serves as an Adviser to ALI’s Project to fully update its “Restatement of Property”.  Mike has served as the Vice Chair of the East Bay Economic Development Alliance, Vice-Chair of the East Bay Leadership Foundation, Chair of the California Homebuilding Foundation, President of the Contra Costa County Bar Association and Chair of the Diablo Valley College Foundation.  He is a member of Vistage International as a founding member of a group in Sacramento, California.  Mike has stayed connected with his law school, Berkeley Law at the University of California, as a sponsor of the Brown and Colby Family Scholarships.  Mike is also a member of the Founders’ Circle supporting Justice For All, the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s nonprofit affiliate working to bridge the justice gap, protect civil liberties, and promote equality under the law.

 

Mike has been recognized as a Northern California SuperLawyer for twenty-two consecutive years since that distinction was first awarded in 2004.
