Miranda Perry Fleischer, who specializes in tax policy, estate planning, and nonprofit law, is Associate Dean of Faculty and the Richard and Kaye Woltman Professor in Finance at the University of San Diego School of Law.  Most recently, Professor Fleischer was named the 2024-2025 Herzog Endowed Scholar, a title she also held in 2017-2018. Previously, she was named a 2020-2021 University Professor, which recognizes outstanding scholarly achievements in teaching and research supporting the mission and goals of the university. Before that, she won the University of San Diego Law School’s 2014-2015 Thorsnes Prize for Excellence in Teaching (determined by student vote). At the University of Colorado, she was awarded the 2011 Provost’s Achievement Award, a university-wide award recognizing her 2010 article "Theorizing the Charitable Tax Subsidies: The Role of Distributive Justice." Professor Fleischer is the co-author of Universal Basic Income:  What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford Univ. Press), and her recent scholarly articles have appeared or are forthcoming in the University of Chicago Law Review, the Southern California Law Review, the Washington Univ. (St. Louis) Law Review,  the Wisconsin Law Review, and the Tax Law Review.
