Lipez
Julia M. Lipez is an associate justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. She is a graduate of Amherst College and Stanford Law School. She served as a law clerk for Judge Diana Gribbon Motz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit from 2006 to 2007. Following her clerkship, Justice Lipez worked as an associate and then a senior associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in New York from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2022, Justice Lipez worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine, where she served as Appellate Chief from 2019 to 2022.
In 2022, Governor Janet Mills appointed her to the Maine Superior Court. While on the Superior Court, Justice Lipez served on the Court Orientation and Public Education Committee, the Maine eCourts Organizational Change Management Committee, and the State-Federal Judicial Council.
In 2025, Governor Mills appointed her to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
