I was born and educated in Paris, France. I first studied management at HEC Paris and then went on to study law. I earned an LLM from the Sorbonne before serving as a cadet in the French Navy. I came back to the Sorbonne to write a PhD on comparative product liability, in which I documented how ideas and concepts first developed in the United States helped shape product liability law in Europe. I became a professor of law at the University of Nantes in 2005 before being appointed to a chair at université Panthéon-Assas in Paris, France's first law school, in 2009. I teach several subjects, including contract law, tort law and comparative law. My current research focuses on the notion of damage and on the reform of product liability law in the European Union. French is my mother tongue and I also speak English and German fluently. I often act as an expert witness on French law before US courts and arbitral tribunals.
