Caitlin Halligan Appointed To New York State Court of Appeals

Following New York Governor Hochul’s announcement on her intent to nominate Caitlin Halligan to the New York State Court of Appeals, the New York State Senate has confirmed Halligan as an associate judge. The vacancy was created by the nomination of Rowan Wilson to the position of chief judge.

Prior to her confirmation on the court, Halligan was a partner at Selendy Gay Elsberg where she led the appellate practice and pro bono efforts. She previously served as deputy solicitor general and solicitor general for New York state. She was the first chief of the New York Attorney General’s Internet Bureau where she developed policy initiatives around consumer fraud and privacy practices. She is currently a lecturer on law at Harvard Law School, teaching subjects on the Supreme Court and appellate advocacy and states and public law.
