Many are weighing in on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. ALI member Eugene Volokh of UCLA School of Law, who was a U.S. Supreme Court law clerk during the same term as Judge Gorsuch, is among those lending his thoughts on the nominee.
In his Washington Post op-ed piece, Professor Volokh notes that Judge Gorsuch's opinion in Yellowbear v. Lambert (10th Cir. 2014), a case addressing a prisoner’s religious freedom, exhibits "Gorsuch’s willingness to step back and explain the background principles behind the law, which I think would be especially helpful in Supreme Court cases, which are often read by nonspecialists.”
