William C. Hubbard of the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law and Rachel F. Moran of Texas A&M University have been recognized by the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation (ABF) for their extraordinary contributions to the legal profession and society.
An ALI member since 1996, Hubbard has served the Institute in several capacities, including on the ALI Council and as an Adviser on the Restatement of the Law, Charitable Nonprofit Organizations and Principles of the Law, Policing. He has been honored with the 2026 ABF Outstanding Service Award.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive the Outstanding Service Award from the American Bar Foundation,” said Hubbard in the ABF announcement. “Since the beginning of my journey as a lawyer and member of the American Bar Association, I have admired the extraordinary work of the ABF and have been inspired by the unselfish leadership of many past recipients of this award. To be counted among them is one of the great honors of my professional life.”
Moran has been an ALI member since 1998. She served on the Members Consultative Group for the Restatement of the Law Third, Torts: Liability for Physical and Emotional Harm, contributing to the ongoing development of one of the Institute’s foundational subject areas. She has been honored with the 2026 ABF Outstanding Scholar Award.
“It is an honor simply to be a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Receiving this award is especially meaningful because the colleagues who selected me are extremely distinguished themselves,” said Moran in the ABF announcement. “It’s also particularly gratifying because some of my research involves work that I did at the ABF as the inaugural William H. Neukom Fellows Research Chair in Diversity and Law. I am deeply grateful for all the generous support that the ABF has given me.”
Hubbard and Moran will be recognized at the 70th Annual Fellows Awards Reception and Banquet at the American Bar Association Midyear Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, on February 6.
