Sara C. Bronin of George Washington University Law School has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Heinz Award in the Economy category. A professor of law, architect, and nationally recognized leader in land use and historic preservation, Bronin is honored for her groundbreaking work at the intersection of zoning, equity, sustainability, and public health.
Bronin is the author of Key to the City: How Zoning Shapes Our World and the founder of the National Zoning Atlas (NZA), an initiative that aims to digitize and standardize zoning data across the United States. The NZA is designed to make complex zoning regulations accessible and understandable to both professionals and the public, supporting more informed decisions about housing, development, and land use policy.
