This year, the World Justice Project introduced the WJP 2016 Anthony Lewis Prize for Exceptional Rule of Law Journalism, an award recognizing journalists “who have contributed to increased awareness and understanding of the foundational importance of the rule of law.”
The Award is named after Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist, Anthony Lewis, who passed away in 2013. Mr. Lewis was one of the first non-lawyers to be recommended for honorary ALI membership, joining the Institute in 2002.
Mr. Lewis is also the recipient of ALI’s Friendly Medal, an honor presented individuals who have influenced the law in the tradition of Judge Henry J. Friendly.
The WJP 2016 Anthony Lewis Prize will be announced in May 2016.
